The Greenhouse walk-in centre, run by Thames Reach, was recently named Hackney Project of the Year at an award ceremony at Hackney Town Hall.

It was recognised for ‘its outstanding and unique contribution to tackling both the health and housing needs of rough sleepers’ at the Hackney Stars Awards, an annual community event organised by Hackney council.

The centre hosts the Single Homeless Hub, a pioneering service providing free healthcare, housing and welfare support and advice for homeless people in the borough.

Staff from Thames Reach, the NHS, and Hackney council Housing Options Team work together under one roof to deliver this service, the first of its kind in London.

Peter Krakowiak, lead manager at The Greenhouse when the award was bestowed, said: “I am absolutely thrilled that The Greenhouse has won this award.

“This is well-deserved recognition for how the centre has improved health and housing support for homeless people in the borough.”
