Thames Reach Christmas appeal 2010

Thames Reach service user John Deakin

Christmas is a particularly important time of year for Thames Reach and the work we do. It is at this time of year that homeless and vulnerable people can feel especially isolated and alone. This year's Christmas appeal focuses on how Thames Reach has changed the lives of some of London's most vulnerable people.

Thames Reach is responding to the current severe weather conditions, with its London Street Rescue service and specialist outreach teams working to get rough sleepers off the streets and into emergency accommodation as quickly as possible. Thames Reach's outreach teams have helped over 200 people off the streets since the cold weather began.

Super-strength success

After campaigning relentlessly over the past five years to raise awareness of the terrible problems caused by super-strength lagers, Thames Reach has welcomed the Government's plans to increase tax on beers above 7.5% in strength.
