Tower Hamlets SORT team

Tower Hamlets SORT (Street Outreach Response Team) helps rough sleepers and people caught up in a street lifestyle in the borough of Tower Hamlets.

Tower Hamlets SORT staff and volunteers are out on the streets of the borough seven days a week in a bid to help rough sleepers off the streets and into accommodation.

Shifts take place both early in the morning and at night in a bid to help as many people as possible.

Tower Hamlets SORT works with a wide range of people with different support needs, including those with mental and physical health issues, drug and alcohol problems, and men and women who have recently left prison or care.

Specialist workers provide support to new rough sleepers, vulnerable women and EU nationals.

Tower Hamlets SORT also runs a service called InReach, offering support to former rough sleepers who are at risk of losing their home.

Volunteer with us

Volunteers are vital to the work of Tower Hamlets SORT – without them this life saving service simply could not run.

Our volunteers come from all walks of life. Many contribute their volunteer time whilst also holding down jobs. Some work for the many companies that support Thames Reach. Others are former homeless people eager to give something back.
