The Saturday Club on an outing to Hastings

The Saturday Club is a self help group launched by the people who use the services of Thames Reach. It was set up to fill the void in social and educational activities at the weekend.

Based at Thames Reach’s Hudson House resource centre in Lambeth, the Saturday Club runs visits to museums and free shows in London. Also on offer are board games, arts sessions, language classes and poetry readings.

Photography workshops and computer training sessions are also on the menu along with outings such as this one (pictured) to Hastings.

Tony Whittaker, a regular, said coming to the group stops him “vegetating at home”. A former drinker who used to sleep rough, he now cooks a monthly meal for the group.
