Thames Reach has welcomed today’s government announcement, with £36.5million in funding to be provided to London councils to tackle homelessness in the capital.
The funding was announced by new Homelessness Minister Alison McGovern, after a visit to Thames Reach’s Greenhouse project in Hackney, alongside Mayor of London Sadiq Khan. See BBC London News coverage of the visit below.
Thames Reach Chief Executive Bill Tidnam said:
‘We welcome the new minister and the funding announcement. This is a concrete step that we hope brings nearer to a government strategy that will support us to end homelessness and rough sleeping.
‘We look forward to working with the government and the Mayor to play our part in making this a reality, by preventing rough sleeping where we can, and supporting people off the streets where we need to.’
More than 13,000 people slept rough in London across 2024/25.
