This week, Thames Reach officially signed UNISON’s Anti-Racism Charter, a document designed to tackle racism in the workplace.

The charter, signed by Thames Reach Chief Executive Bill Tidnam, details a list of policies aimed at making workplaces actively anti-racist. It requires commitment to enact them, on an ongoing basis, within 12 months of signing.

Proud to sign

Bill Tidnam, Thames Reach Chief Executive, said: “I am proud to be able to sign Unison’s anti-racism charter on behalf of Thames Reach.  The need to challenge racism has always been central to our vision and mission. We understand the links between the racism experienced by the people who use our services, and the homelessness and housing need they experience.

“Signing this Charter, and committing to developing and executing the action plan associated with it, will help challenge us to maintain our focus on this work in a changing environment.

Yvonne Scott-Henry, Chair of Thames Reach’s Race Employee Resource Group, said: “Signing this Anti-Racism Charter is a positive milestone for Thames Reach. I’m committed to contributing to the next steps. We want this charter to embed in our everyday practice and remain a meaningful part of how we work.’
