Homelessness isn’t just rough sleeping
It’s precarious housing, losing a job, getting sick, grieving, addiction, and struggling with mental or physical health. Often, it’s a combination that traps people in a cycle of homelessness.
At Thames Reach, we do more than get people off the streets — we tackle the root causes to prevent them from returning to rough sleeping.
We support people at every stage, from providing safe accommodation and essential items to mental health and addiction services. We even help with basics like access to a phone so people can register with a GP or receive job calls.
With your help, we can continue helping hundreds recover from homelessness and break the cycle for good.

Brian’s story
Brian faced a difficult path when he found himself living on the streets. His turning point came when he met Mickey, his Thames Reach support worker, who found him in an alleyway and offered him the support he needed. “Mickey took me off the street,” Brian says. “Good man, he does what he says he’ll do.”
With Mickey’s help and support from Thames Reach, Brian moved into stable accommodation and began rebuilding his life. Through our Essentials Fund, he received items that made his new space feel like home.
Now, Brian feels safer, independent, and is making strides in his recovery. “I’ve cut down on alcohol. I’m enjoying life better now I’ve got my own place to live,” he says.
“There is light at the end of the tunnel. You have to keep going. It’s going to be hard—very hard. But you’ve got to keep going until you reach your goal.” – Brian
