This is an exciting opportunity to work within Thames Reach’s Rough Sleeper Services, working in collaboration with 4 North London local authorities – Haringey, Enfield, Barnet and Islington, to create new options to leave rough sleeping for migrant rough sleepers living in encampments.
You will be responsible for assisting rough sleepers to leave the streets by supporting them to access affordable housing and regular employment.
An ability to identify partners and establish and maintain effective working relationships with these will be key to the success of this project
You will need to work with private rented sector landlords and agencies to identify suitable low-cost accommodation and identify and liaise with providers of hostel accommodation or hosting schemes.
You’ll identify and liaise with employers with jobs to fill and support clients to secure work, particularly focussing on opportunities that provide ‘tied accommodation’.
We would particularly welcome applications from speakers of Central and Eastern European languages. You will be able to undertake outreach visits to encampments at the times when clients are likely to be there.
To succeed in this post you will need the interpersonal skills and the commitment, patience and perseverance required to work with complex rough sleepers and the confidence in public speaking to enable you to represent Thames Reach and speak about our work to our partners.
As we work in partnership with enforcement, you’ll be comfortable doing this and be able to speak to others about the benefits of a joint working approach.
You will have the confidence and knowledge to supervise volunteers and interns and the strong I.T skills needed to be able to collect, collate and interpret information and statistics on rough sleeping and present these in external meetings.
This project and your work will be measured on the following outcomes:
• The number of people engaging with the programme.
• The number of people moving into legitimate employment.
• The number of people moving into accommodation and away from rough sleeping.
• The number of voluntary reconnections.
• The number of encampments closed.
