Thames Reach is one of London’s leading homelessness charities. Our mission is to assist homeless and vulnerable people to find decent homes, build supportive relationships and lead fulfilling lives.
An important consideration for the UK’s anticipated departure from the EU has been protecting the rights and immigration status of EU citizens living in the UK. As a homelessness charity, Thames Reach is concerned that vulnerable EU citizens in the UK without Settled Status could become homeless after Brexit.
In line with the draft Withdrawal Agreement between the UK and the EU, the government has released funding to support EU citizens and their families with their immigration status in the UK. We expect that a minority of current EU citizens will either be unaware of this scheme or will struggle to make the application. The project will support vulnerable EU citizens who are resident in the UK to obtain a UK immigration status so that they avoid becoming homeless.
About the Role
The role will support vulnerable or at-risk EU Citizens living in London and their family members to help them make an EU Settlement Scheme application. This will prevent people from becoming homeless. We would particularly welcome applicants with the ability to speak an additional European Language and due to the requirements of this funding, only applicants without a criminal record will be eligible.
The role will:
-Work with existing Thames Reach services to identify eligible clients
-Contact and support vulnerable EU Citizens and their families living in London
-Learn and understand the Government’s digital application process
-Support people to apply for UK immigration status
-Record support delivered and outcomes achieved
The working hours: 37.5 hours per week. Mostly regular office hours Monday-Friday with some hours outside of this as required. Your main base of work will be the Employment Academy in SE5 with travel to a number of Thames Reach’s projects.
