At Thames Reach we are driven and committed to helping homeless and vulnerable people to live in decent homes, build supportive relationships and lead fulfilling lives. Our vision is to end street homelessness and our aim is to achieve the highest standards and effectiveness in delivering services to vulnerable people.
Highway House is shelter in Tottenham that provides accommodation, food and support for up to 50 men a night.
We are looking for an experienced, motivated person to join us as Lead Worker – Night Shelter Co-ordinator to work in partnership with the borough of Haringey, its Lead Rough Sleeping Officers and local night shelters in the borough, including Highway House to:
• Develop move-on support plans for everyone using the shelter.
• Keep those staying and working in the shelter safe.
• Strengthen their links and joint working with other services within the borough and in London.
You will do this by:
• Working in partnership with clients and the shelter to develop personalised support plans and risk assessments for every service user and share and update these.
• Identify the best option for each client to stabilise their accommodation and maximise their independence.
• Set up and administrate regular client review meetings and other scheduled meetings with key partners.
If you are looking to use your existing knowledge and experience to move into a role where you will have more influence and responsibility and be able to work to resolve the homelessness of some of the most complex rough sleeping clients in London this may be the opportunity you are looking for.
This post will give you the opportunity to build on your ability to carry out assessments, identify options, devise plans to achieve these and oversee a multi-agency problem solving approach with people who may have a history of challenging services.
With the help of our experienced senior staff and management, you will be supported and trained to use your strong communication and creative problem-solving skills to enable you to create and deliver options for people where these may be hard to find. You will receive regular supervision from experienced staff who will both guide your work and encourage and facilitate your personal development.
To succeed you’ll need to have the interpersonal skills and the commitment, patience and perseverance required to work with a case load of complex rough sleepers and the confidence in public speaking to enable you to represent Thames Reach and speak about our work to our partners.
You will have the confidence to supervise volunteers and the strong I.T skills needed to be able to collect, collate and interpret information and statistics on rough sleeping and present these in external meetings.
While a large proportion of your time will be spent working day shifts Monday-Friday, you will be flexible and able to work late and early shifts and weekends as required.
