The Rapid Response team is a new service funded by the Mayor of London to provide an emergency response to people sleeping rough in up to 23 London boroughs. This team will play a pivotal part in supporting the Mayor’s work to help homeless people get off the streets, back on to their feet and looking forward to a brighter future.
This is an exciting opportunity to move into managing a busy, high profile service at the frontline of efforts to reduce rough sleeping in London. Your innovative management of this service will influence the future of service provision across London.
You’ll need to be outcome focussed and able to foster a culture of high performance and continual striving to improve upon successes throughout your team.
About the role
As a Senior Practitioner you will supervise and support night outreach workers and volunteers. You will ensure that we meet our fast response times and that we are delivering a high quality service to rough sleepers.
You will work evenings and into the night on a rota that will include some weekends and bank holidays. You will accompany workers on shift to offer support and guidance as well as working from our office in Westminster or other locations in the community.
In addition you will be:
-Organised and able organise the operations of a complex, busy service.
-A decisive and effective leader.
-An excellent communicator able to form and maintain effective working relationships.
-Able to recognise and confidently talk about best practise and its results to funders and other stakeholders.
-Able to directly manage staff and ensure the services finances are well managed.
-Confident in working with enforcement agencies such as the Police and local authority civil enforcement teams and be able to speak to others about the benefits of this joint working approach.
