We are currently looking for a Support Worker to work as part of an exciting new service that works with acute mental health hospital wards in Lambeth.

This is great opportunity to participate in a 6 month pilot, help to set up new service, work alongside peer supporters and volunteers and make positive change to people who need it the most.   You will work predominately Monday to Friday 9am- 5pm and your work will include:

-Enhancing people’s experience of being on the ward by, building rapport, increasing motivation, removing barriers whilst empowering individuals to recover and stay well, whilst making their own choices.

-Increasing opportunities for our clients by expanding their social networks.

-Working alongside clinical and social care colleagues and other strategic partners. Co – creating personalised support packages for people as they prepare to leave the ward.

-Working alongside volunteers and peer supporters as well as having oversight of their work on the ward.

-Working in 2 mental health acute wards in Lambeth, supporting people with social interaction and escorted leave of the words.

-To keep contact with people for a six week period after discharge, to maintain stability as they transition into the community.

– You will be highly motivated, committed well organised. You will need to be able to work under your own initiative and have strong communication skills enabling you to engage with clients that have complex needs.

The successful candidate will work within the Integrated Personalised Support Alliance (IPSA). An innovative programme where Thames Reach, Certitude, the South London and Maudsley (SLaM) NHS Trust and Lambeth Council work together to improve outcomes for people with mental health issues. This way of working will give you an opportunity to learn more about mental health system, diagnosis, barriers that clients experience and be instrumental in supporting people on the way to recovery.
